A simple timing app for iOS and Android, it is designed to function in much the same way that the handheld timers do, but without “lap” functionality. Developed for a mid-distance sled dog race, it is intended as a backup timing device for any race in which competitors are identified by bib numbers and have a single finish time, rather than lap or checkpoints times, although it can be used as a timer at checkpoints to record all times for competitors coming into a particular checkpoint.
It is also intended to work with the MultiStage Race Timing spreadsheet, to allow import into that spreadsheet of times recorded in FinishLine. You can download the spreadsheet here:MultiStage Race Timing Sheet.
I’ve added some functionality through the Race Setup menu, allowing multiple methods of matching start time with bib number, which will make it easier for automatically calculating elapsed time when using interval starts. This makes the app more full-featured than I’d originally intended but my daughter wanted it.
The app is finished in both iOS and Android builds, and is available for download from the Apple App Store for iPhone, and here for Android. To install from a source other than Google Play you’ll have to allow it in settings, but I have no interest in jumping through Google’s obstructive hoops that are designed to eliminate indie developers, for an app I’m giving away.
